Introducing Elizabeth Maconchy (1907-1994) and her circle.
Maconchy's early and late quartets will bookend music by her teacher Vaughan Williams and daughter Nicola LeFanu. Plus Maconchy's writings, projected photographs, and the quartet performing centrally, surrounded by the audience.
A pre-concert multimedia installation event will introduce Maconchy, using film and photography; the audience can wander around and interact with musicians and listen to examples of her music.
